Balconies of Peñíscola

The amusingly named and picturesque town of Peñíscola, sometimes known as ‘The Gibraltar of Valencia’ sits atop a large rock on the Spanish coast facing the sparkling Mediterranean sea. Small white houses cluster around an imposing castle on steep and narrow cobbled lanes. On most of these houses are balconies and on the underside of these balconies are a dazzling array of brightly coloured and patterned ceramic tiles. Here is just a small selection of the many dozens of patterns that we saw there.
